The West End — A Public House
Looking for a good beer and gourmet food in the Galleria area? The West End, a massive neighborhood pub with an enormous patio, offers more than 50 craft beer taps, including multiple offerings from local favorites like Karbach, Saint Arnold, Southern Star and Buffalo Bayou, as well as offerings divided in catagories — The Brits, The Irish, The Europeans and The Americans. And wine and cocktails, too.
Named after the neighborhood in London where the first gastropub (a pub with gourmet food) opened, The West End also offers an extensive menu featuring a wide array of salads with homemade dressings, appetizers and such specialities as Colonial Shepherds Pie, fish and chips, wild boar bangers & mash, curry chicken samosa quesadillas, whiskey-cured salmon, and a British man plate (The BMP), which includes artisianal meat, cheese, smoked wild game sausage, olives, marcona almonds, fig jam and a 5-minute egg. The kitchen is open until 2 a.m. every night of the week.
Feeling even hungrier? They will roast a pig, goat or fish with all the trimmings with a week's notice for parties of 15 or more, $38 a person.
