French Legation Museum

The French Legation was originally built by the French diplomat to The Republic of Texas and later became the residence of the Robertson family for over 100 years. In 1956, the home became a museum under the custodianship of The Daughters of The Republic of Texas and recognized as the oldest extant wood-frame structure in Austin. Today, the Museum is a community center, private reception spot, alternative music venue and historical center devoted to preserving our cultural heritage.
If you love history as much as we do, you'll love the clever offerings of their Museum Store. Especially the "J'Adore Texas" T-shirts.
