Franklin Barbecue
Franklin Barbecue is arguably the best in town, and with one trip to the storefront on the East Side, you'll see the talk isn't unfounded. Arriving at Franklin even an hour before it opens, you can find a line circling the building. It's that good. Brisket is Franklin's specialty, served either on a plate or in a sandwich. Also on the chopping block are ribs, pulled pork, sausage and pork butt. Franklin is one of those you've-got-to-taste-it-to-believe-it kind of places. But remember that if you're heading that way, arrive early and be prepared to wait — sometimes up to two hours — for your mouthwatering plate of meat. The next most important tip? Franklin closes up shop once it runs out of food, which sometimes can be around 12:30 p.m. or earlier.
