It's difficult finding a good Cuban restaurant in Austin, but thanks to The Texas Cuban you can now find authentic Cuban sandwiches right along South Lamar. Texas Cuban is owned and operated by Hector and Eric, two incredibly nice and passionate guys looking to fill the void of Cuban food in the trailer community. Their sandwiches are delicious and huge: The Texas Cuban feeds two, and consists of grilled pork tenderloin, ham, melted Swiss and provolone cheese on a garlic Cuban bread with mayo/mustard. They have Media Noches, burgers and veggie sandwiches, and each sandwich is served with Mariquitas (fried plantain chips.) Enjoy your sandwich with a side of croquettas, black beans or papa rellenas for a true Cuban meal.

The wait can be a little on the long side. if you don't have the time to wait, call in ahead and have your food ready to go when you get there.
