Austin named No. 2 party city in the nation by event expert
Austinites — and most Texans, for that matter — sure know how to party, according to party expert Evite. Using proprietary data, the digital invite platform has released its annual ranking of the top 10 U.S. party cities of the year, based on the number of events planned over the past 12 months.
Austin ranks No. 2 in the nation, with 52,364 Evites sent in 2017. That's up one spot from where we landed on the 2016 list.
Just ahead of Austin is Houston, which tops the chart at No. 1, with 57,268 Evites sent this year. Dallas anchors the list at No. 10, with 33,932 Evites sent.
Other big cities with residents big on hosting blowout bashes include Chicago, No. 3, with 51,506 Evites, and New York City, No. 8, with 35,321.
Contributing to these figures are the holidays, which make up the biggest party season of the year. While most soirees are planned the week after the Thanksgiving break, the rest of the year is no snooze.
Evite reports that the biggest party days are usually the two Saturdays before Christmas, which means the party people will be out in full force again on December 23. So keep calm and party on.
