A Very W New Year's
New Year's Eve sparkles at the W Austin, awash in sequins and music
Some people can't imagine celebrating New Year's Eve anywhere but a hotel. It's a great way to settle in for a night of revelry; you get dinner, drinks, entertainment, dancing and, depending on whether you splurge on the overnight package many high-end places offer, either a luxurious room or a waiting cab to ferry you safely home in the wee hours of the new year.
The W Austin fulfilled those festive fantasies Tuesday night with its Remix & Revelry New Year's Eve party. The upper level and ballroom were awash in silver sequins, seen on fetching outfits worn by the wait staff, go-go dancers (who also sported some boss fake-fur leggings) and quite a few of the guests.
Decked-out guests circulated from room to room, enjoying dinner by the bite (everything from those delicious tiny burgers to a whole room of chocolate treats), the open bar (with special sparkling wine cocktails dubbed the "Remix" and the "Revelry" and dance floors in both the ballroom and on the tented balcony. Presented in partnership with The Sessions, the music was nonstop, with sets by DJ IWannaBeHer and Bird Peterson and headliner Max Frost with special performances by Emily Wolfe and Luis Banuelos.
A champagne toast at midnight sealed the deal for happy partygoers. While all that glittered that night was silver, the evening was pure gold.
