Austin named the most expensive city to raise a family

KVUE -- A new study finds Austin is the most expensive city to raise a family. Intuit Spending looked at how much families spend on education, groceries and household expenses.

Researchers say that in Austin, families spend on average $878 a month putting costs higher than places like San Francisco, Nashville, Seattle and Portland.

The five most expensive cities for families:

1. Austin — $877.74

2. San Francisco — $875.95

3. Nashville — $817.48

4. Seattle — $807.48

5. Portland — $805.91
