MyLifeSpeaks is a recognized public charity providing orphan care, orphan prevention, elementary education, and public health services in rural Haiti. The work in this part of the world is never-ending. With a population of more than 10 million, Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Roughly 80 percent of the country is unemployed, and nearly half are illiterate. Children there fare particularly poorly, with almost 500,000 orphans and estimates that more than 50 percent of the population is under the age of 15.
In September 2013, myLIFEspeaks partnered with Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas to provide health care, feeding programs, nutritional supplementation, and medical training and expertise for these children in Haiti.
