Dot Dot Dot Connect presents "PL IN ATX," featuring a collection of 30 posters by award-winning Polish designer, Patrycja Longawa. The opening night will celebrate the inventiveness and beauty of the unique artistic phenomenon: the world-renowned Polish School of Posters.
Longawa’s exhibition is the partner event to the Austin Polish Film Festival, which will kick off a week after the poster show’s opening. The exhibition and sale will include posters she designed for American and European films, music, visual art events, and more.
The AO5 Gallery holds a collection of vintage Polish posters by the masters of the genre. In the period after WWII, till the collapse of communism in Poland in 1989, the most famous artists associated with the Polish School of Posters were men.
Longawa is a young Polish female artist who continues the tradition of uniqueness and excellence in this design genre. Her posters intrigue and engage. They are expressive, full of colors, ideas, and creative intelligence covering many topics, from film, music, and nature to social issues. She often portrays women in her posters. She is known for her unique design style, building visual metaphors by using clean-cut shapes, intense colors, and inventive custom-built typography.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until November 30.
