The 3rd Annual Congo Square ATX Festival brings culture to the stage, spotlights the artist, and highlights the community programs that are providing valuable platforms for the youth and adults. Congo Square ATX will highlight the following four themes throughout the event: Identity, Culture, Community, and Diversity.
This year’s festival features vibrant experiences from Liberia, the Caribbean, Brazil, and Colombia. Featured performances include Capoeira Luanda of San Antonio, Bahdae Kids African Dance, Cumbia from Colombia, and Reggae. The Congo Square ATX tradition begins with an honoring of our ancestors. The opening ceremony is followed by the community drum class which will be taught by Grammy Award-winning percussionist Shango Dely of Colombia. This year’s Spotlight will feature Gabreauna Nash. Headlining this year event is Kiko Villamizar of Colombia.
