Forklift Danceworks presents My Pool, My Park, My City: Bartholomew Swim

Forklift Danceworks will present Bartholomew Swims. The first in a series of three dances presented over the next three years and created with East Austin neighborhoods, this performance will feature lifeguards, aquatics maintenance staff and neighborhood residents at Bartholomew Pool, the city’s first integrated public pool.

Bartholomew Swims will draw choreography from the everyday movement of work and swimming. Imagine a maintenance employee describing the underbelly of the pool as he walks along its edge. Picture lifeguards performing drills in sync, and a dozen local kids doing cannonballs in unison. Graham Reynolds will compose and perform an original musical score and Stephen Pruitt will design the production. This dance will illuminate the unseen life of this vital community gathering place.
