Preservation Austin’s “Austin 1964!” Homes Tour will offer a snapshot of a transforming Austin, when Austin’s first tech company Tracor made its initial public stock offering, a group of friends first gathered to celebrate Eeyore’s Birthday Party, and a little honky-tonk named the Broken Spoke was built on the outskirts of town. The six spotlighted homes will pay homage to the city’s modernist roots and honor some of Austin’s premier mid-century architects.
