Hell Yes, Local Comedians!
Hell Yes Fest!: “Unsuspectingly Sponsored By…” showcases our local comedianswith free P. Terry's
The Moontower Comedy Festival is officially in full swing, bringing popular comedians like Seth Meyers, Aziz Ansari and Nick Offerman from all across the nation right into our very own front yard.
Don’t fret though; the festival has plenty of local Austin comedians taking advantage of the festival to show visitors what the city’s vibrant comedy scene has to offer.
One show in particular called “Unsuspectingly Sponsored By…” will allow Austinites to experience the Moontower Comedy Festival as well as support their neighborhood comedians and enjoy a free P. Terry's hamburger while they’re at it.
The show features local Austin comedians who create advertisements for companies for a living and shows what would happen if they could create the ads they actually wanted to make. In this case, the company they’re creating ads for is Austin’s very own P. Terry’s.
Representatives from the famous burger stand will be put on stage while the comedians “pitch” new concepts and campaigns in the form of improv, sketches, stand-up monologues and what I’m most excited about, fully produced video commercials/sketches. Think of Saturday Night Live'shilarious “Almost Pizza” commercial and Digital Short sketches.
P. Terry’s has not seen or heard any of the comedians' pitches or the video (which is where the “unsuspectingly sponsored by…” comes into play) but they’re taking it in stride and know it will be all in good fun.
On the poster for the show (pictured above), a disclaimer reads: "P. Terry's has no influence over the content of Unsuspectingly Sponsored By P. Terrys. Everyone will get a free burger though, so there's that."
