Algebraic Art
What time is it? At the Mondo Gallery, it’s Adventure Time!
C’mon grab your friends, and we’ll go to very distant lands.
Actually, if you love art and are a fan of the most weirdly awesome cartoon series in existence, a trip down Guadalupe Street is all that you need to enter the Land of Ooo.
After the successful launch of their gallery during the hubbub of SXSW, Mondo seems just as stoked to announce their second gallery event that will pay homage to Cartoon Network’s surreal smash comedy hit, Adventure Time.
Nominated for several Primetime Emmy and Annie awards, Adventure Time tells the stories of adventures undertaken by the boundlessly energetic boy, Finn, and his magically elastic dog, Jake, in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. The series itself is wildly exuberant in nature, and has attracted the attention and fandom of both kids and adults with its contagious enthusiasm for all things fun.
Such love for the series must obviously be plentiful amongst the minds and artists that compose Mondo, the Alamo Drafthouse’s art boutique. Beginning on Friday, April 27, the gallery will host a collection of artwork and posters inspired by the world of Adventure Time. The collection of 40 works of art from 31 artists will grace the gallery walls until May 26.
On the day after the gallery opening, Mondo will also be hosting an Adventure Time marathon and feast at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar with series creator Pendleton Ward and voice actor Tom Kenny. Sadly for many fans, tickets for the event evaporated pretty quickly, proving that the show has quite the local following.
But you can always have your own Adventure Time marathon at home, so find some friends to share a fist pound with and seek a little adventure at the Mondo Gallery.
