American adds 3 new nonstop flights from Austin to national and international hot spots
American Airlines is making a major investment in Austin next year. On December 10, the air carrier announced the addition of three nonstop flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Boston; San Jose, California; and Los Cabos, Mexico.
In an effort to connect the country's major tech hubs, American is adding nonstop service from Austin to cities on both coasts. Beginning April 7, 2020, new flights to both Boston and San Jose will take off twice daily, Sunday through Friday.
Morning service from AUS to San Jose International Airport will take off at 7 am, arriving at SJC at 9:05 am, local time, every day except Saturday. Evening flights take off from Austin at 6:50 pm and land in San Jose at 8:55 pm, Monday through Friday.
Return flights take off from San Jose at 9:55 am, arriving back in Austin at 3:47 pm, also Sunday through Friday. Likewise, evening flights from SJC leave at 6 pm and land in AUS at 11:57 pm, Monday through Friday. American will also offer one Sunday flight from Austin at 4:30 pm, arriving in San Jose at 6:35 pm.
Like San Jose, Austin to Boston service will be available every day except Saturday. Flight from AUS take off at 6:15 am and 4:30 pm daily, landing at Boston Logan International Airport at 11 am and 9:15 pm, respectively. Return flights leave Boston at 11:45 am and 8:05 pm. Sunday service takes off from Austin at 10 am, landing in Boston at 2:45 pm.
“Our customers have expressed the desire for more routes between major tech cities, and we’re pleased to respond to their needs by helping them reach these important destinations with ease,” said Alison Taylor, senior VP of global sales and distribution, in a release. “These new routes reflect our commitment to partnering with customers to seamlessly support their travel needs.”
Realizing that all work and no play makes everyone dull, American is also adding Austin's first nonstop directly to Los Cabos, Mexico, beginning May 9. Located on the Baja California peninsula, the airport services hot spots like Cabo San Lucas and Todos Santos.
That nonstop is available Saturday and Sunday and leaves Austin at 9:30 am, landing in Los Cabos at 11:10 am. Return flights take off from Los Cabos International Airport at 12:05 pm, landing in Austin at 3:40 pm.
American's three new Austin nonstop flights are part of the airline's bigger push into the Capital City. In addition to the expanded service, American says it will also "have five contiguous gates at AUS" by the end of 2020.
