Start your planning: ACL Fest releases the 2013 two-weekend schedule
On Wednesday, Austin City Limits Music Festival released the schedule for its 2013 event, which will span two weekends in October. The lineup — including headliners and up-and-comers — was released in early May, but without details on when each band would hit the stage. The guessing game is now over and festival-goers can begin planning how they'll navigate the three-day weekends of music.
Lionel Richie will close out the festival each Sunday, playing from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the Skyline Stage.
The schedule reveals that headliner slots will be the same for both weekends (October 4-6 and October 11-13).
Both Fridays will feature Depeche Mode from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Muse playing the 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. closing slot. Kings of Leon and The Cure will headline both Saturdays, with The Cure getting a coveted two-hour set from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Lionel Richie will close out the festival each Sunday, playing from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the Skyline Stage.
Although the headliners' schedules don't vary from weekend to weekend, the remainder of the festival programming offers plenty of variables. Early shows each day will highlight a variety of local and up-and-coming acts.
If you can make it to Zilker early in the day, top local picks for the first weekend include Dana Falconberry (October 4, 12:15 p.m.), Bobby Jealousy (October 5, 11:15 a.m.) and The Band of Heathens (October 6, 12:20 p.m.). On the second weekend, look for up-and-comers Sons of Fathers (October 11, 12:20 p.m.), Parquet Courts (October 12, 11:30 a.m.) and The Durdens (October 13, 12 p.m.).
The full schedule for ACL Fest is available online. Tickets for Weekend One are sold out, but three-day passes for Weekend Two are still available.
