Austin Symphony Orchestra presents American Landscapes

eventdetail

The Austin Symphony Orchestra presents American Landscapes, featuring pianist John Novacek and conductor Peter Bay, with symphonic photochoreography by Westwater Arts.

The concert will celebrate America’s beauty with compositions written by American composers, inspired by the sights and sounds of the place we call home. Aaron Copland’s The Heiress Suite, created from the Oscar-winning score to The Heiress film, opens the evening program. Novacek first joins the Symphony for Gould’s Interplay, and after intermission, for Gershwin’s famous Rhapsody in Blue, which combines jazz rhythms with classical elements. Putting nature’s beauty into song is the Grand Canyon Suite by Grofé, the conclusion to just some of the breathtaking landscapes the audience will experience.
