ATX Football and Fashion 2012

August is the start of that special time in Austin — football season. But that’s not all that is happening this month: Austin Fashion Week has grown into a major community event. Austin Fashion Week is a full week of fashionable activities, runway shows and parties. Of course, football is not without its fashionable qualities — tailgates, homecoming mums, dressing for the game. And fashion, well, it can be a competitive contact sport. This month we cover football and fashion with an eye on the ball(gown), both on the field and on the runway. From the high school gridiron to Mack Brown's office, from the high fashion (if you want to call it that) of the tailgate party to backstage of the runway, we'll take you there up close. CultureMap delivers the perfect juxtaposition of these two seemingly separate but very much intertwined cultural mainstays.
