The Texas Longhorns defeated the Wyoming Cowboys 37-17 at Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium Saturday night. While Texas relied on a strong running game to hold the ball, the Longhorn defense showed it has some work to do if it plans to live up to its pre-season buzz.
Both Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown ran for over 100 yards and the Texas defense intercepted two passes. Still the game was closer than expected as Wyoming sophomore quarterback Brett Smith gave the Texas defense some things to work on.
Longhorn quarterback David Ash played nearly the entire game, throwing for 156 yards. Passing was not what was asked of Ash who managed the game well.
Wyoming led 9-7 at the end of the first quarter and Longhorn nation held its breath. That score got Texas attention and the Horns dominated, owning the ground game.
CultureMap will have a complete review of the game Sunday afternoon.
