The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas Presents: Citywide 86'd Finals
If you've ever watched Chopped on Food Network, then you'll be excited to know that Austin has its own version that doesn't skimp on the kitchen drama. The Citywide 86'd competition began in 2008 as a friendly battle among Uchi's staff, eventually growing into a contest between some of the city's most talented chefs.
The Citywide 86'd features three stages of competition: appetizer, entree and dessert. For each course, contestants are given secret ingredients that are seemingly incompatible, testing their culinary might and mettle to determine who will win the chance to stage at a prestigious restaurant. At the same time, guests will get to watch the fun and enjoy bites from Austin's best restaurants.
The four finalists include Bradley Nicholson of Barley Swine, Murphy Parks of Searsucker, Lauren Ortiz of Uchi and Ben Schwartz of Uchiko.
