Austin Fashion Week kicked off its seventh annual affair on Friday with an immersive evening at Speakeasy. CultureMap was on the scene to chat with founder Matt Swinney about the event's evolution and the stars of the show.
"We really started it just to embrace the local fashion community," Swinney says. But over the years, the event has blossomed into a must-attend affair. "It's grown a ton, and we have a really strong designer community that we want to embrace."
Eight-hundred fashionistas packed Speakeasy for the opening party, which highlighted some of the city's hottest emerging designers.
