Cinco de Mayo has arrived, bringing the perfect excuse for indulging in everyone's favorite Mexican cocktail. Ahead of the annual holiday, we asked CultureMap readers to vote for their favorite out of six Austin margaritas. This year, it wasn't the classic frozen margarita that tickled your taste buds. No, it seems that our readers want a little spice in their cocktail.

Jack Allen's Kitchen's Cucumber Jalapeño Rita won the poll with a sweeping 31 percent of the vote. This margarita is complex: sweet, savory and refreshing all at once. The preparation combines Ambhar Reposado Tequila, St. Germain, muddled cucumber, fresh jalapeños, simple syrup and fresh lime. It's getting hot out there, so this could be your choice to cool off.

The final standings were as follows:

  • Jack Allen's Kitchen's Cucumber Jalapeño Rita — 31%
  • Vivo's House Margarita — 17%
  • Maudie's Frozen Margarita — 15%
  • Takoba's Mezcarrita — 14%
  • Hopdoddy's Doble Fina Margarita — 11%
  • Star Bar's Habanero Rita — 10%

Go, enjoy a cocktail on this fine day. Just remember to do so responsibly. Cheers!
