Punch It Up
Unique entertainment venue and 'gastro diner' Punch Bowl Social is coming to town
The newest addition to The Domain, opening this fall, is Punch Bowl Social, a restaurant, bar and eclectic entertainment venue based out of Denver. In addition to a "gastro diner" restaurant and a bar specializing in local spirits and craft beer, the entertainment features include a bowling alley, ping pong, deck-shuffle, shuffleboard, marbles tables, foosball, pinball, darts, karaoke rooms, board games and vintage video games.
PBS will join two other recent dining announcements, Paul Qui's East Side King, and Austin’s second location of the cult-like Shake Shack. (The first Shake Shack will open this winter on South Lamar Boulevard near the new Alamo Drafthouse). Other casual dining options are expected to be announced soon.
According to its website, "PBS brings old school entertainment, culinary refinement and a modern beverage program [together] under one roof." Expect a "dirty modern" decor featuring Victorian, industrial and modern touches.
The venue will occupy a 12,000-square-foot freestanding building at 11310 Domain Dr. (directly across from the Westin Austin) which is currently undergoing a $4.5 million renovation. Opening is tentatively slated for August. Currently, PBS restaurants are in Denver and Portland, with a new one slated to open in Detroit this fall.
