KVUE -- If you're planning a trip to London you can now fly directly from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
British Airways will fly a Boeing 787 Dreamliner nonstop from Austin to London five days a week just in time for the South by Southwest Festival. In May the service will increase to seven days a week. The airline estimates it will bring an initial $70 million in economic impact to both countries.
The new route will create about 1,100 jobs for the air service industry, and a surge for local business, too, according to the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
The first flight arriving from London will land in Austin at 5 pm Monday. The first departing flight will take off at 7 pm and land in London at 10 am Tuesday.
If you'd like to see the plane take off Monday evening, the airport’s Family Viewing Area will provide a vantage point and refreshments.
