Sneak Peek
Step inside the new TOMS store, now open on South Congress
On Tuesday, TOMS unveiled its new store located at 1401 South Congress with a private evening of music, noshing and, of course, discovering the nooks and crannies of the new space. The South Congress shop is the retailer's second freestanding store, and it offers a unique Austin vibe that is as much about shopping as it is about celebrating the local community.
TOMS has released a special limited-edition shoe created in collaboration with Austin artist Alyson Fox.
"We are trying to create a real space for the community. I don't like to even call it a store. It's more of a community space, a cafe, a meeting place for people who are inspired by what we are doing and doing other great things themselves," TOMS Founder Blake Mycoskietold CultureMap in February.
Inside the store you'll find signature canvas shoes, as well as eyewear (glasses and sunglasses) and handcrafted accessories. And, in honor of the store's opening, TOMS has released a special limited-edition shoe created in collaboration with Austin artist Alyson Fox.
The space — an inviting one that begs you to sit down and relax — also includes a cafe serving coffee from TOMS Roasting Co., the company's newest initiative, which was introduced byMycoskie on Tuesday. For every bag of coffee purchased, TOMS will give one week of clean water to a person in need.
Guests at the private opening party celebrated the new store with bites from the Peached Tortilla and a special DJ set from The Black Lips. Attendees included Blake Mycoskie, Lauren Bush Lauren, Donald Glover, Zoe Lister Jones and Ludwig Goransson. The store, housed in an old Victorian, is now open to the public.
