Michael Kors has a blooming good time with sunny collection
The world may be increasingly dark and chaotic, but Michael Kors has a remedy for all that doom and gloom: Get happy. He labeled his spring 2015 collection, unveiled Wednesday, "optimistic chic," and it's among his sunniest yet, with feel good, all-American sportswear guaranteed to shake the blues away.
Kors labeled his collection "optimistic chic," and it's among his sunniest yet.
After opening with several crisp all-white pieces, including a linen pullover sweater, fil coupe dress and embroidered skirt, the collection burst into color, with tulle skirts dotted with jeweled buttercups, bright yellow coats, and dresses in floral fabrics — pink peonies, yellow dahlias and lilac wisteria. Even a black skirt was brightened up with raffia flowers.
While Kors toned down some of the sunny flash with basic shirts in menswear fabrics that added a note of sensibility, he featured sun dresses, shorts and tunics in gingham fabrics — pink, green and purple that kept the good-feeling vibes going.
Accessories are also a big part of the Kors empire (fashion has made him a billionaire), and the models' footwear had a winning style, too. Models wore chic but sensible sandals; some were flats; others had a cushioned inch-thick sole and wraparound straps that made strolling the runway nice and easy.
On the front row, Jessica Chastain labeled the collection "fantastic," while Olivia Munn, Poppy Delevigne, Mary J. Blige, Jada Pinkett Smith and Heidi Klum concurred.
