Hyde Park Homes
A look inside the tiny and stunning Austin abodes from the Hyde Park Homes Tour
Explore one of Austin's most storied neighborhoods Sunday, November 8 during the Historic Hyde Park Homes Tour, a walkable journey through decades of home design.
This year's theme is tiny — literally. The "Celebration of Small Houses" is meant to "show that creative people can enjoy style and affordability in a Central Austin location," with homes on the tour averaging under 850 square feet.
The tour features seven abodes in a variety of styles, all built in the early to mid 19th century. Exterior design influences range from Folk Victorian to Tudor Revival, while the interiors often blend inherent charm with modern updates. Each house comes with a unique story of construction and restoration, which collectively add to the colorful, 120-year-old tapestry of Hyde Park.
The nearly four-decade-old tour doubles as a fundraiser for the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, the organization that helps preserve the area's historic district status. Guests on this year's tour will also be treated to something new. To further emphasize the "small" theme and the spirit of restoration, some of the houses will showcase elaborate vintage dollhouses.
Tickets to the Hyde Park Homes Tour are $20 and can be purchased online. You can also swing by Lucien, Stirling & Gray Advisory Group on the day of the tour to purchase a ticket in person. Ticket holders will be given more information and the addresses of each house on the tour.
