Uchi Dallas Opens Soon
Uchi finally sets an opening date for new Dallas restaurant
Uchi, one of the most hotly anticipated new restaurants in Dallas, has an opening date: June 1. To be precise, the restaurant will open at 5 pm that Monday, at 2817 Maple Ave.
This is the third location of Austin-based Uchi, from famed chef Tyson Cole. There is also a location in Houston.
According to a release, the menu will meld the best from Uchi and sister concept Uchiko. Signature offerings include hot and cool tastings, makimono, yakimono, tempura, and, of course, sushi and sashimi. The progression of the meal is important; each bite is meant to build upon the last.
Chef de cuisine is Nilton “Junior” Borges, who hosted a teaser pop-up in Exposition Park to preview some of the dishes. Items specific to Dallas include gyutoro, a braised Wagyu short rib served with an Asian pear terrine; kamo nabe, a bowl of duck confit atop crispy rice and kale; and lime cream, a dessert with layers of lime and fennel seed mousse with crispy puffed rice, pear sorbet, and herbs.
Uchi will serve dinner nightly.
