Rustic luxury with a touch of Texas twang is headed for North Austin. The hotly anticipated Archer Hotel has set an opening date of August 30, right in time for Labor Day weekend.
The 171-room, eight-story property features carefully curated details like Texas-made leather belts as wall covers and local artwork throughout. Guest room terraces come complete with cozy throws and limestone fireplaces that overlook Domain Northside, the third and final development phase of the Domain, which includes Rock Rose hot spots and soon-to-open retailers like Nordstrom and Restoration Hardware.
Joining Archer Hotel will be a new outpost for Second Bar + Kitchen from La Corsha Hospitality, the group that recently opened the long-awaited Boiler Nine at downtown's Seaholm development. Chef David Bull, who helms Second Bar + Kitchen, will also direct all food and beverage for the 16,500-plus square feet of meeting and event space at the hotel.
Six “Texas chic” designs alternate through the eclectic guestrooms, available from $249 per night, so that no two spaces are exactly alike. Canopy beds, free-standing soaking tubs, and indoor-outdoor spaces are some of the hotel room’s highlights. Bathrooms boast porcelain tile for a weathered-wood look, and king guest rooms feature different Austin murals behind the headboards. Down pillows and comforters, along with Frette bathrobes and his-and-hers slippers, make for ultimate comfort.
Guests will delight in a "bedtime turndown treat," a rotation of Crave Artisan Chocolate, Fat Belly manchego-chili pretzels, white chocolate tart cherry popcorn from Bakery Dulcinea, and house-made baked goods from Pastry Chef Michelle Arcilla Hall. Archer also features Austin-based products like Zhi Tea and gifts for children from Toy Joy.
But let’s not forget about the hotel's pool, a circular structure meant for socializing. An 18-foot fireplace is found adjacent to the pool bar while plush cabanas with day beds, tables, and lighting provide some privacy to the outdoor space.
This is the second Archer location, the first of which opened in New York in May 2014. To celebrate the opening, Arhcher is offering a 20 percent discount valid on all reservations booked before September 26 for travel through February 28, 2017. Sounds like a staycation is in order.
