More than 17,000 children are removed from their homes by CPS in the state of Texas every year. In an effort to ease what can be a tumultuous transition, Carrying Hope consulted with local foster care agencies and CPS and came up with the idea for Hope Packs: backpacks or diaper bags filled with items that children who are entering the system need most.

The item lists for Hope Packs feature a mix of necessities — formula, diapers, and wipes — and comfort items, such as stuffed animals, nightlights, and coloring books. After Carrying Hope receives the completed packs, they distribute them to foster care agencies and CPS caseworkers who can take them along when they're placing children in new homes.

To make your own Hope Pack, head here for a supply list. Complete Hope Packs can be dropped off at 9600 Escarpment Blvd., suite 745-239.

Volunteer opportunities include stocking shelves and helping run packing drives. Head here to find out more.

Carrying Hope's inaugural Fostering Love Gala raised more than $65,000 for children who are entering foster care in Central Texas.

The "Hope All Year" gift is an annual contribution of $600 to Carrying Hope, which provides 12 Hope Packs — one for each month — for children who are entering the foster care system. "Hope All Year" donors receive a monthly newsletter that includes a story of a child who received a Hope Pack thanks to donors like them.
