Austin Open Door serves Austin's homeless and working poor men, women, and children by providing a substantial meal and operating a clothing store every Saturday morning of the year (including holidays). Open Door is operated 100 percent by volunteers within the Austin community, many of whom are or have been a part of the population served by Open Door. Most importantly, Open Door fosters a community atmosphere to enable the homeless population to be recognized as valuable, respected, and beloved members of the Austin community.

Austin Open Door Outreach offers weekly volunteer opportunities for interested individuals and groups within the Austin area. The program prepares and serves a substantial meal to more than 200 Austin-area homeless and working poor members of the community on Saturday morning. Volunteer opportunities during the week are also available for those wishing to help sort and or stock the clothing store. For additional information on volunteer opportunities, contact Judy at uumc.opendoor@yahoo.com.
