The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief charity in Central Texas. It works with food donors across the country, financial supporters, and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas through three key ways: by sharing free food and knowledge on low-cost, healthy eating with families in need; assisting families who qualify for federal assistance programs; and making food affordable for charitable and government partners.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the food bank — they ensure that safe food leaves the warehouse, keep mobile food pantry lines running smoothly, and share the CTFB mission at community events throughout the year. The food bank needs volunteer support year-round, and offers a diverse offering of volunteer opportunities, perfect for individuals and groups. For more information, head here.
This summer the Central Texas Food Bank will host its annual Austin Restaurant Weeks, a delicious promotion that helps you check off your bucket list while raising funds to fight food insecurity. The event will run in August 2019.
For Austin Restaurant Weeks, dozens of local eateries and bars offer specially priced prix fixe meals and cocktails. The meals come at two levels: a two- or three-course lunch priced at $25 or a three- or four-course dinner priced at either $35 or $45. Some participants also offer a $8 cocktail or $6 beer to help sweeten the deal. A portion of the proceeds from the sale goes directly to eliminating hunger in Central Texas.
