Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB) provides resources and education to engage citizens in building more beautiful communities. KAB has five areas of focus: clean, beautify, recycle, educate, and recognize, which is about honoring the most outstanding environmental efforts of individuals, schools, and organizations.
Keep Austin Beautiful offers year-round volunteer engagement opportunities. You can view and register for projects here, or visit the event calendar to see more opportunities.
KAB also help you organize your own community cleanup. You choose the place and time, and they provide all the necessary supplies for a successful cleanup. Additionally, they support community projects with a variety of free resources, including tools, soil, mulch, and compost.
Each April, Keep Austin Beautiful hosts Clean Sweep, a county-wide service day spanning over 131 sites in 31 ZIP codes throughout Austin and Travis County. As Clean Sweep has grown over the years, it has become more than just a cleanup day. Volunteers are planting gardens, restoring riparian habitats, removing graffiti, and more.
In previous years, the cleanup and project day has resulted in over 26 tons of trash removed by over 4,000 volunteers who contribute 8,700 combined service hours. The network of projects is followed by a not-to-be-missed volunteer party featuring free T-shirts, lunch, live music, children's environmental activities, a unique object contest, door prizes, and more.
