The Other 23 was founded with the sole mission of bringing people together in order to make a distinct impact on veteran communities. It provides opportunities for veterans to take advantage of community-based active therapy, and hobbies with like-minded professionals and individuals.

There are two surf camps a year: Cinco de Surfo, which is around Cinco de Mayo, and Uncle Sam's Surf Camp, which is in August or September.
These are veteran-only, all-inclusive events where 10-12 veterans go to a lake house in Austin and learn how to wake surf. Surf therapy has been proven to be effective in reducing the symptoms of depression and PTSD.
Bubbles & Boards is a dinner and silent auction fundraiser to raise the money needed to host camps. The first one of this year is set for February 20, 2020.
