For the middle-class children in America, no movie has ever perfectly captured what Christmas means to them and what that experience is like — wanting a gift that can't be had and having to survive bullies and weird presents from your "Aunt Clara." And even though it's a film featuring Little Orphan Annie radio shows and references to Victor, the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse, A Christmas Story is still timeless because it actually seems to capture a real Christmas Spirit.
It probably also helps that this movie is hilarious with many famous lines, so yell them out along with some helpful subtitles and maybe a special game of marskmanship beforehand.
