As the former gangland resort, Atlantic City is transformed into the Vegas of the eastern seaboard — and the people change too. Burt Lancaster’s former mob flunky becomes enamored of Susan Sarandon’s blackjack dealer in training. Sarandon’s pregnant sister and drug dealing husband arrive, together, and everyone rolls the dice in the big game of life.
