Running Out of Time shines with the gloss of 1990s Hong Kong, but it still features plenty traits in common with 1970s oddball Hollywood crime movies. Andy Lau plays a sleek criminal mastermind with a terminal illness set to turn the underworld upside down, and Lau Ching Wan is the slouchy cop ready to stop him.
