aGLIFF presents Prism 36

aGLIFF, Austin’s oldest film festival and the premier LGBTQ+ film fest in the Southwest, will present PRISM 36, featuring over 50 films, including features, documentaries, and shorts, over five days, as well as exclusive festival events and screenings.

The Narrative Centerpiece film will be Our Sonstarring Billy Porter and Luke Evans, a modern-day gay version of Kramer vs. Kramer as it portrays the heartbreaking reality of the divorce of a gay couple.

The closingfeature, The Mattachine Family, is a touching story about parenthood, chosen family, and feeling lost in love featuring an all-star cast, including Nico Tortorella, Juan Pablo Di Pace, and Emily Hampshire.

Other highlights include a special sneak peek of The Judgement, a horror film set in Egypt; opening night film Glitter & Doom, a jukebox musical love story set to the music of the Indigo Girls; and the documentary centerpiece Truth Be Told, which examines the difficult relationship some queer Black individuals have when navigating their faith in the Black church.

For PRISM 36, aGLIFF will additionally offer a virtual component, August 28-September 4, after the in-person festival has concluded. The virtual festival will include select titles from the in-person event.
