Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre and multimedia artist Yuliya Lanina are premiering new, innovative and multimedia performances of live music, dance, Soundpainting and animatronic sculpture with “Locked-in” and “This is a Test of the Internal Emergency Broadcast.”
“Locked-In” was inspired by Ariel’s own awareness of how our mobile devices and this digital age are changing our lives physically, emotionally and socially in both positive and negative ways. The show opens with artist Yuliya Lanina's premiere of “This is a Test of the Internal Emergency Broadcast System,” a 20-minute multimedia performance. Lanina's animations, sculptures and live movement will be accompanied by original music by Vladimir Rannev. In “This is a Test of the Internal Emergency Broadcast System,” an artist disguised in a bird-like costume guides viewers through an immersive installation consisting of a video projection, diary sketches and interactive sculptures created by Lanina with technical development by Theodore Johnson.
