New York artist Serene Bacigalupi will be exhibiting her whimsical "Monster Makeover" paintings in Austin for the first time. In this endearing and on-going series, vintage paintings are given new life with original characters added by Bacigalupi into the landscape with ink and paint pen.
These makeovers have become well known for their narrative quality as well as for the recurring characters which appear throughout her work. In addition to showing her original paintings and limited edition prints, Bacigalupi has partnered with a creative team in New Orleans to bring her monsters, unicorns, and other lovable creatures to life. These three-dimensional sculptures will be taking over the gallery space during the exhibit.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through November 25.
