Each year the Austin Civic Orchestra travels north to Georgetown to perform in Southwestern University's Alma Thomas Theater. This season’s concert, Spotlight on Southwestern, will feature music from Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah, led by Kenny Sheppard. The second half of the concert will feature J. Michael Cooper’s edition of Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony as well as Jason Hoogerhyde’s contemplative Lament for string orchestra. There will also be a pre-concert lecture by Drs. Cooper and Hoogehyde.
