Austin Civic Orchestra will present a performance by the winners of the Butler School of Music’s String Concerto Competition at the seventh annual Texas Rising Stars concert. Accompanied by the Austin Civic Orchestra, UT junior Sara Aldana will perform the first movement of Camille Saint-Saëns’s Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, Op. 61, and senior Corina Santos will perform the first movement of Aram Khachaturian’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra.

The program includes Camille Saint-Saëns’s Bacchanale from Samson et Dalila, Samuel Barber’s First Essay for Orchestra, and Roydon Tse’s Sinfonia Concertante - the U.S. premiere of this piece. Tse is an acclaimed Canadian composer, pianist and educator. Before the concert and during intermission, a string quartet comprised of high school musicians will play as part of the orchestra’s Amster Chamber Music program.
