Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference

The 31st annual Austin Film Festival and Writers Conference will feature well over 100 different feature film and short film programs, along with lectures and conversations with a variety of well-known movie and television writers.

Highlights of the film festival include opening night film The Piano Lesson, written and directed by Malcolm Washington and starring John David Washington; centerpiece film The Order, starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, and Tye Sheridan; A Real Pain, written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg and starring Eisenberg and Kieren Culkin; Nickel Boys, adapted from the Ta-Nahesi Coates book; Nightbitch, starring Amy Adams; September 5, starring Peter Sarsgaard; and The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody.

Films will be premiering alongside AFF’s Annual Writers Conference, featuring awardees and panelists across all sectors of the industry. Among the speakers/panelists will be writer/director Rian Johnson, Fargo's Noah Hawley, producer Kathleen Kennedy, Craig Mazin of The Last of Us, and more.

Screenings and other events will take place at the Paramount Theatre, Stateside at the Paramount, Galaxy Theatres, and other locations. For a full schedule of events, go to the festival website.
