Maurice Pialat’s Palme D’Or winning film was a unanimous choice by the Cannes jury in 1987. In this adaptation of the Georges Bernanos novel, Gerard Depardieu plays a haunted seminarist who is failing his parishioners until he meets Mouchette (played by Sandrine Bonnaire), who has just committed a mortal sin.
