The Austin Gay Men’s Chorus will be the first to premier @QueerZ, a new choral work commissioned to commemorate Gen Z, as part of Keep Austin Queer’d.
Commissioned by a consortium of LGBTQ choruses, @QueerZ is composed of a series of songs that explore issues and themes that resonate with LGBTQ members of Generation Z. Ranging from Kate McKinnon to the prevalence of school shootings, the songs are an exploration of what matters to a generation that came of age in a time of relative acceptance and support The songs include surprising renditions of classic favorites, ranging from "Come Thru Mama Ru" to "Home on the Range."
Audience members are invited to attend a reception, which will feature finger foods and a cash bar, for an hour before the start of each show.
