In the summer of 1951, the all-stars of the North Austin Lions Club league did what no other Austin Little League team has ever done – make an appearance at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. They not only made an appearance, they dominated their opponents up to the final game, a 3-0 loss to the champions from Stamford, Connecticut.
The Austin History Center and Austin History Center Association will present an afternoon of baseball stories as members of that fateful team share their experiences in a panel discussion moderated by AHCA President, and former Little Leaguer, Charlie Betts. Light refreshments (peanuts and Cracker Jacks, anyone?) will be served. After the program, enjoy the exhibit “Play Ball: Austin and the Great American Pastime!” currently on display in the David Earl Holt Photo Gallery.
