Austin Interfaith Arts and Music Festival presents: Pakistani musician Ustad Ghulam Farid Nizami

Central Presbyterian Church will host the Austin Interfaith Arts and Music Festival’s (AIAMF) annual concert and silent auction. This year’s event features the ancient sounds of 17th-generation musician UstadGhulam Farid Nizami, a master musician and distinguished vocalist from Pakistan.

The evening will begin with a prayer for peace led by the Reverend Jimi Calhoun, AIAMF Trustee and the Pastor of Eastside Arthouse, followed by Austin composer Rudy Davenport, who will share his powerful composition entitled, September 11, in memory of those lost ten years ago.  Nizami will take the stage at approximately 7:10 pm.    

Nizami’s performance will include a vast array of styles including Classical Indian, Ghazal, Geet, Qawwali, Bhajan, Pakistani Folk and Sufi music, utilizing his principal instruments of Sitar, Vocals, Tabla, and Harmonium.  He will be accompanied by his son Faraz.
