The Austin Symphony’s annual Halloween Children’s Concert will feature frightfully fun symphonic music that is stimulating for young eyes and ears (ages 2–10). The entire family is invited to dress up in their favorite costume and enjoy “boo-tiful” music with their Austin Symphony Orchestra.

This season’s featured piece will be the always popular piece Peter and the Wolf, “a ‘symphonic fairy tale for children’, is a musical composition written by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936.

The Austin Symphony’s annual Halloween Children’s Concert will be a swashbuckling Halloween adventure filled with spooky symphonic thrills and pirate delights.

Highlights include Pirate Dance (Leroy Anderson), The Flying Dutchman Overture (Wagner), “Battle Scene” from The Nutcracker (Tchaikovsky), Jaws Main Title (John Williams), Conga del Fuego Nuevo (Arturo Márquez), Polovtzian Dances (Borodin), “Sabre Dance” (Khachaturian), and Pirates of the Caribbean (Klaus Badelt).

Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite pirate, witch, ghost, or superhero to participate in a costume contest. Prizes and “treasures” await the best costumes onstage.

Pre-concert activities include musical crafts, games, and the Instrument Petting Zoo. Activities will begin one hour before the concert on the H-E-B Terrace and Long Center Lobby.
