eventdetail

These performances will feature French composers who were influenced by the sounds of Spain. The night will include what some consider Chabrier’s most famous piece, his "España," and then guest violinist Philippe Quint will perform Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole on his 1738 “Senhauser” Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu violin. The evening will conclude with a magnificent piece by Georges Bizet-Rodion Shchedrin Carmen Suite (excerpts from the opera transcribed for strings and percussion) (1968).
