ALICE (in wonderland) is a wacky and whimsical contemporary ballet that features fanciful sets, outlandish costumes and choreography fusing classical ballet with contemporary ballroom, modern and hip-hop movement styles. Matthew Pierce, who will conduct the Austin Symphony Orchestra for each of four performances, composed the original score for ALICE and will also play the violin as part of the production’s musical accompaniment. Additionally, the large cast of dancers required for ALICE will include approximately 40 young performers from the Ballet Austin Academy in a variety of supporting roles.
